**REAL ID GOES INTO EFFECT MAY 7, 2025**

Beginning May 7, 2025, a state-issued driver's license or identification card that is not REAL ID-compliant will no longer be accepted as a valid form of identification for certain federal purposes.

Key Information: 

• REAL ID is only required for customers who intend to:
  • Board federally regulated commercial aircraft (for domestic travel), or
  • Enter secure federal facilities such as military bases, nuclear power plants, or federal courthouses.
• Standard credentials (non-REAL ID licenses and ID cards) remain valid for all other purposes, including driving, general identification, and age verification.
• If a customer does not have a REAL ID and still intends to fly after May 7, 2025, they must present an acceptable alternative form of identification at TSA checkpoints.

 Acceptable Alternative IDs Include:

• U.S. passport or passport card
• DHS Trusted Traveler Cards (Global Entry, NEXUS, SENTRI, FAST)
• U.S. Department of Defense ID (including those issued to dependents)
• Permanent Resident Card
• Border Crossing Card
• Federally recognized Tribal ID (including Enhanced Tribal Cards)
• HSPD-12 PIV card
• Foreign government-issued passport
• Canadian provincial driver’s license or Indian and Northern Affairs Canada card
• Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
• USCIS Employment Authorization Card (I-766)
• U.S. Merchant Mariner Credential
• Veteran Health Identification Card (VHIC)

Important Note:

Travelers who do not have a REAL ID or another acceptable form of ID may experience delays, additional screening, or be denied access to secured areas.

• We are a walk-in facility; appointments are not required.
• We offer knowledge exams, including Hazardous Materials, from 7:00 am to 2:00 pm Monday through Friday.
• VIN inspections are only available Monday through Thursday, 7am to 2pm. *If there is inclement weather they will not be offered.
• Road tests for adults are offered by appointment only. There may be days we will offer walk-ins. Check out our Facebook Bloomfield MVD page, as that is where we will post the days they will be offered.  *Please keep in mind road tests will not be offered if there is inclement weather.
• Road tests for minors & college students will be offered Tuesday-Thursday from 9am to 11am, with a Bloomfield Police Officer. We ask that you begin your visit at MVD. *Please keep in mind road tests will not be offered if there is inclement weather.
• Notary service is also available.
