City of Project Bloomfield Water Meter Replacement
The City of Bloomfield is excited to announce the start of the City’s Water Meter Replacement Project. In October 2024, the City selected Resource Wise from Albuquerque to head the project of replacing water meters which will be installed by Living Water Stewardship from Farmington.
Installation of the new meters began on the 1st of April 2025. With over 3,000 meters to replace, this project is expected to take up to 8 months.
This project will replace all water meters in the City with Kamstrup Ultrasonic meters that operate under an advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) system that allows information on meter performance and water usage to be processed in real time. These new water meters will allow consumption to be accessed remotely and quickly through RF (radio frequency) without having to manually read the water meter dial. In addition, Kamstrup AMI meters are much more efficient, allowing for faster detection of high consumption, including the possibility of leaks and helping track usage for water conservation.
The most important way to ensure the success of this project is to make sure the meter can area is clear from any obstructions. There should be minimal if any interruption in water service and most customers will not realize their meter is/was replaced.
In the rare instance there are problems with installation likely due to the age of the meter, the installation crew will do their best to notify the customer of the problem and duration of water service interruption. Problems will be fixed as soon as possible within 4 hours.
If you have an interruption in your water service and have NOT been notified by the installation crew, call the MOC at 505-632-8448 during the City’s normal business hours, Monday-Thursday, 7:00am-5:30pm. Outside the City’s normal business hours, call emergency dispatch at 505-334-6622 and explain the issue.
